Free Tax Preparation - Please read on for more information:
The Resource Center and the Genesee County Tax Assistance and Financial Services Coalition, with the assistance of AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteers Lattrice Averette, Sonyita Sparkles Scales-Connor and Kenneth Walker, have compiled this year's list of AARP-Tax Aide sites, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites, where eligible taxpayers can have their tax returns prepared at no charge. Eligible taxpayers can also take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which may net as much as $1,200 return to the wage earner. Trained, certified volunteers will prepare and electronically file the returns, according to the schedules posted on this site.
