The Resource Center offers two leadership programs
Leadership Genesee and Greater Flint Youth Leadership:

Leadership Genesee

Leadership Genesee, formerly known as Leadership Flint/Community Leadership, exists to bring adults from diverse backgrounds into a network of active community leaders.

Program graduates participate in vital areas of community service provided by agency boards, civic committees and volunteer organizations.

Leadership Genesee alumni are actively involved in the Greater Flint community. These leaders volunteer their time and expertise to help insure that the Greater Flint Area will continue to be a great place to work and live.

    Sessions Include:
  • Training in individual leadership skills and in community leadership;
  • A framework for networking among participants, community leaders, alumni, and others in the community;
  • Awareness of community issues, resources, needs and civic responsibilities;
  • Motivation for participants to become more actively involved in community service.
Greater Flint Youth Leadership (GFYL)

The mission of the Resource Center’s Greater Flint Youth Leadership Program (GFYL) is to prepare a diverse group of high school students for constructive leadership and committed involvement in the future of their community.

GFYL envisions a community in which high school students have the leadership capacity to make a contribution to their world. In such a community, these students put their talents to constructive use by creating and recognizing opportunities for civic engagement and philanthropy.

    Sessions Include:
  • Experiential and interactive learning;
  • Discussions related to community issues;
  • Interaction with community leaders, communication and leadership skills;
  • Orientation to organizations in the community;
  • Motivation for participants to become more actively involved in community service.

For more information about how you can become involved with Leadership Genesee or GFYL, Call (810) 232-6425 or visit the other GFYL website.
