The Resource Center, a local organization dedicated to promoting volunteerism and effective nonprofit management, has extended the deadline for individuals interested in joining its annual Community Leadership program. Genesee County residents may now submit application materials until Friday, July 14, 2000.

The Community Leadership program, formerly known as Leadership Flint, is an effort to recruit and train the next generation of community leaders in the Flint area. Beginning in late August, participants will engage in 15 weeks of leadership training and community awareness building at a variety of sites around Genesee County. Topics will include: fundamentals of leadership, the history of Flint, public safety, education, government, and the media. Participants will also work together on task force projects benefiting local nonprofit organizations.

The Resource Center’s Community Leadership program will be celebrating its twenty-seventh anniversary in 2001. Interested individuals may contact Program Coordinator, Heatherlun Evans, at 232-6298.
