Flint, MI- Free tax return preparation services are available to Genesee County residents.

The Genesee County Tax Assistance & Financial Services Coalition provides tax return preparation for low-to-moderate income earners at no cost. IRS trained and certified tax preparers who volunteer their time will be preparing tax returns at a number of locations.

The obvious benefit to the individual is free tax preparation assistance. But beyond that, the volunteer tax preparers want to ensure that area residents get the entire refund to which they are due. The Earned Income Tax Credit is just one of many tax credits that help individuals obtain a larger income tax return.

AARP volunteers are also preparing tax returns at a number of sites in Genesee County. There is no income restriction for those being helped by AARP's trained tax preparers. However, some sites serve only the residents of that site. Check the schedule carefully.
